Aditi -- although I don't possess Asian ethnicity personally, I really like the term APIDA, since it seems more inclusive:
A=Asian
P=Pacific
I=Islander
D=Desi (Southeastern Asia & Indochina, for those unfamiliar with the term)
A=Arabic
Of course, there'd need to be extensive education on what the APIDA acronym actually means...but AAPI doesn't seem to delineate very well how East Asia (the Orient), Central Asia (the southwestern Eurasian Plate), South Asia (the Indian subcontinent), and West Asia (the Middle East) all uniquely contribute to the overall "salad bowl" of the Asian continent itself.
