Also, the yearbook advisor who unilaterally made this decision was a woman. Probably a Ted Cruz supporter...like my 7th Grade Science teacher who would rail against students for refusing to volunteer to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
The school allowed a sexist double standard to be enshrined in these kids' memories, and the teacher responsible should be disciplined severely. Furthermore, school administrations need to write better policies that specifically allow for gender-inclusivity and gender-neutrality when it comes to rules and regulations...and hold the faculty accountable for following them. Is this along the lines of what you are thinking when it comes to systemic changes?
