Also, there's another reason why the Zoomer (or "Centennial") generation hasn't heard of (or seen) so many of these movies & TV shows -- their generation accesses a lion's share of their content through technology, but many vintage movies/television STILL haven't been converted to DVD format...let alone adopted by a streaming service to be part of the online libraries available for download.

Gen X and Gen Y lived some or all of our childhoods where we were dependent on live programming or VHS tapes, "back in the day," for our entertainment viewing -- so we're more accustomed to seeking out shows/films of yesteryear that one would otherwise assume have disappeared. Whereas, Gen Z has mastered technology-on-demand...but they've only been exposed to what's readily available as part of that demand. Gen AA ("Generation Alpha") also appears to be headed in this direction.

That's the biggest divide amongst the four youngest generations. Xers and Millennials cling to our nostalgia, and then try to relive it; Zoomers and Alphas, on the other hand, tend to explore what's being newly promoted and then decide whether or not they find it has any relevance to their own lives/beliefs.
