As a Polytheist, I Lack Community

If you practice Paganism, don’t expect to find a coven or a Grove right down the street from you

I always get frustrated when people ask me, “Are you religious?” The reason for this is simple: Many of them are operating from their own religious (or irreligious) biases. They want to know whether I believe in the same deity as them…or if I reject such beliefs.

Last summer, I wrote a memoir piece entitled “Would I Be Considered a ‘Person of Faith’?” –

When people ask to hear about my faith-based beliefs, I have to qualify my response by defining what I am. They don’t always make it easy for me to do this. Example…

Random Person: “Do you believe in God?”

Eichy: “Yes…many of them.”

Those of us who identify as polytheists believe there are multiple deities coexisting within our universe.
