Because, apparently, diversity means "being less white" -- and there are too many people from the Middle East who "look white" (in the subjective views of self-appointed racial diversity arbiters).

Of course, I say this with derision toward hyperwoke culture. Of course the Middle East is part of Asia. But certain people seem to have relegated the region to its own subcontinental identity.
