Could "psychological reactance" be the long-overdue kick-in-the-pants needed to motivate the Democratic Party (as well as anti-authoritarian outside groups/individuals, for that matter) to FINALLY take midterm elections seriously? Or, for that matter, to finally take DOWNTICKET races seriously?

There seems to be a disturbing trend of "apolitical complainers" who appear convinced that their only real civic responsibility is showing up to vote for the U.S. Presidency *ONCE* every 1,460 days...

(...and then spend the remaining 1,459 days bitching and rolling their eyes, while taking no other substantive actions)
