Doesn't it also depend on how we each define a "friend," in our eyes?

For me, in order to be my friend, you don't have to drop everything you're doing just to be there if I'm having a personal crisis. We're all dealing with different things -- and even when I'm facing tough times, I don't expect everybody else's worlds to revolve around mine.

What I expect from friends is: rational discussion, critical thinking, compassion, supportive energy, offering up proactive solutions, challenging one another in healthy ways, and (especially!) someone who won't disingenuously claim to be my "friend" while they also proceed to include me in the same broad brush strokes they'll use to paint a canvas of their flagrant bigotry.
