Even the possibility of permanent physical immortality is terrifying to me. Imagine having a biological body that is so impenetrable and invincible, it could withstand ANYTHING -- and there was no kryptonite that could end your existence. Wouldn't it be haunting, worrying about the possibility of having to wander the planet all alone in the aftermath of a nuclear winter??? (even if the ELE itself had no initial direct impact on your own body).

I'd rather die an early death peacefully, rather than live longer but die in a painful and/or torturous manner.
