When people whine: "Is chivalry dead?"...I'm often tempted to respond with the following (rhetorical) questions:

-- What value is there in chivalry being monodirectional (toward women, from men)

-- Can women be chivalrous toward men? Or toward other women?

-- Do those who value the concept of chivalry include transgender, nonbinary, genderfluid, or intersex people in their definitions?

-- Is there any need, in terms of definition, for "chivalry" to even be gender-specific at all?
