Except that I, as a moderate, don't "take pride" in the positive actions that other Americans achieve for the sake of the collective good. At least, I don't presumptuously credit MYSELF for initiating/originating them.

There's a nuanced difference between "feeling proud of someone else" versus "sharing in someone's pride along with them."
