First, I completely agree with you that no one person from the LGBT+ community should be obligated to serve as a spokesperson or avatar for our community just because they happen to be queer.

That being said: as someone who is queer, I'm more than willing to educate heteronormative folks on several aspects of queer culture...with the caveat, of course, that I'll remind them how I cannot possibly speak to every segment of the LGBT+ community, nor am I trying to unilaterally dictate an all-encompassing blueprint for action. My voice, in this context, is meant to try to foster understanding and provide a gateway for amplifying a multitude of additional queer voices alongside of my own.

So, no, I didn't ask for this responsibility, and I shouldn't be expected to shoulder it exclusively -- but I'm volunteering to help tackle the problem on behalf of those within my community who are (understandably!) too exhausted and exasperated (at this juncture) to continue attempting to do so themselves.
