First, let me say that I'm now inspired to go read some of your other pieces on (as you phrase it) "magnificent masculinity."
The military/police misogynistic/white supremacist archetype you describe is very real. I don't find anything controversial about your characterization of them, at all.
Contrast that with Meghan McCain, who openly insists that any/all veterans can criticize her however/whenever they want...and she'll let them, unequivocally, without any rebuttal from her. (The exception to this was the Jan. 6 insurrectionists, whom she angrily lambasted on-air after having taken to Twitter with her cyber crocodile-tears of "I wish my dad was still here"...)
But the archetype is with us. Fortunately, I have faith that they don't represent a majority of Americans. I refer to them as "Duck Dynasty rejects"...
Great piece, Christyl!
