Aside from your characterization of Tim Wise as "brilliant," I agree with a vast majority of points you hit upon in this article/guide.
From my own perspective, I make it a point to never classify/label myself as an "ally." What I try to do, instead, is to recognize where I have privilege -- and then help members of the marginalized group have their needs met in ways that they've expressed are essential (within logic and reason, of course). If they consider me to be an "ally," then I'll take that as a compliment. If they don't, I'll try to learn what more I can do.
