Honestly, I don't even know what people mean when they say "doing away with protection from men," in terms of speaking in hypotheticals -- because they fail to get specific. This is where I was trying to challenge Lindz...what specific policies does she want to see arise, in terms of safety?
If male-driven violence suddenly stopped being systemic and started being rare...would that mean we'd all insist that restrooms and locker rooms suddenly be made coed or gender-neutral by default? I don't think so. People would still have varying comfort levels. They'd still carry gender-driven trauma, even if such trauma was no longer rooted in perpetuated systemic realities.
Now, going back to your overarching point: yes, obviously, I agree that the epidemic of male violence needs to be confronted and changed. What do you believe would be the most timely and expeditious way(s) to achieve that cultural shift?
