How do you know they aren't withholding such details from you? Do they blatantly confirm they've never been harassed or abused -- or do you just assume that they haven't, going into the conversation, because they are male?

I definitely agree with what you're saying about how it's hypocritical for someone to complain about generalizing men when they themselves are simultaneously ACTIVELY generalizing women.

I think where people get in trouble is their tendency to use "all" or "most" -- if people refrained from doing that, it would be more widely understood that "some" isn't a necessary qualifier.
