I agree about how nice chivalry feels when it comes from a romantic partner...but there's no reason why it can't be bidirectional. Women can show chivalry in the same way men can. And the heteronormative interpretations of it are blatantly excluding same-sex couples and nonbinary couples.

Obviously, body-slamming and door-slamming is rude when ANYBODY does it. I agree with your assessment of finances when it's a legal marriage. When it comes to the pre-marital courtship, expenses should be based on who does the inviting as well as what the couple itself finds to be most comfortable for them.

What I object to are those gender essentialists who basically tell the world: "This is how it SHOULD be for EVERYBODY." They seem to suggest this in regard to both romantic as well as platonic interactions (between the genders) alike. This is my problem with the views expressed by the cohosts of CBS's "The Talk."
