I agree it was 100% shitty for her to do that do you, and she showed you what a shitty person she is.

But, if I was privileged enough to be able to fly away to Paris to meet up with someone I liked -- I'd have a whole set of backup plans in place. I'd go into it ASSUMING there's a chance I might get ghosted. So, emotionally and logistically, it would be a way of protecting myself until the guy I'm meeting proved my fears to be unfounded.
