I agree that it's most likely white privilege/entitlement from her...but I additionally think it's celebrity privilege, on Pompeo's part.

She thinks she's untouchable and invincible, because of all the money she has made for ABC headlining "Grey's Anatomy" (even though it's Shonda's show).

I'd also like to point out that Pompeo has lectured her White fans, multiple times, through empty virtue-signaling platitudes on social media about how to be an ally to Black, Indigenous, & People of Color. In retrospect, such platitudes now come off as completely tone-deaf and elitist, from her.

Apparently, it's "Rules for thee, but not for me," in Ellen Pompeo's world.
