I do believe there should be some form of consequence for Kyle Rittenhouse in terms of him bringing the weapon across state lines illegally, as well as for his vigilante intentions. My understanding is that the first person he shot was due to a reflex from sudden movement of a plastic bag? If so, he should be indicted for that.
However, the charges stemming from anything that happened once the mob began chasing Kyle Rittenhouse should result in an acquittal.
If he goes to prison, he'll likely be placed in protective custody, much the same way Bill Cosby was. This would be out of necessity. Would that feel like justice, for those who want to discourage right-wing vigilante activity? Are there any additional consequences for him that could involve systemic solutions in terms of restorative justice?
