I had the opposite problem...people from various disabilty services acting as though I was "spoiled" or "entitled" for refusing to learn how to drive.

I lived in Los Angeles for ten years, and I rode the bus everywhere. My therapist, at the time, was in awe of me -- she kept telling me how she couldn't do it. Ultimately, it was just a matter of mastering the bus system/schedules.
