I have no problem with people identifying as atheistic or agnostic. Their belief system or worldview, in and of itself, doesn't negate the quality of their ideas.

But it sounds as though you are equating evangelical Christians, fundamentalist Muslims, and Orthodox Jews with more progressive denominations such as Unitarian-Universalists, Reform Jews, or Quakers. Am I inferring too much from your writing?
