Yes, you're absolutely right that it's still overwhelmingly men who hold positions of power. They hold those positions of power over other men as well as over women (and nonbinary people). And yes, the gender stereotypes to which I'm referring are part of what allows them to cement those patriarchal power structures for themselves.
