I never claimed it was surprising.

Sadly, none of the things you mentioned here are surprising. And none of this is limited to political journalists. (I'd argue that "science reporters" are even worse.)

I never claimed it was surprising. Nor did I allege that ONLY political journalists do it. But they are some of the biggest offenders...and we shouldn't let them get away with it.
