I often wonder if people tend to be too quick to conflate what they desire in their sexual/romantic lives with how they would advise society to behave in general?

I mean, I'm a gay dude who looks for certain qualities and traits in my future husband/lover -- but I don't expect complete strangers in passing to embody those exact same characteristics, if that isn't what works for THEM when seeking their own domestic bliss.
