I really wish Medium would curate this piece of yours at the top of their front page.

People too often act as though it's an either/or scenario. Either you're a Pollyanna or a Wildfire/Haque. There's no in-between, with them.

We can be realistic about how daunting the obstacles in front of us are -- WITHOUT preordaining that we'll never solve these problems ("becuz HUMAN NATURE!") or that our individual actions and attempts at influencing others are somehow futile in "the bigger picture."

I've concluded that misery is addictive...and there are many miserable people who want to generously "share" their bounty with everybody else. I have no time or patience for them.
