I sometimes use the hybrid term of "friendquaintance" to describe somebody whom I don't know well enough yet to consider them a friend (but hope that a future friendship between us could be a possibility), yet, despite that lack of friendship, I have more affection for them than I would toward somebody who is just a person I'm forced to tolerate.
