I think you might misunderstand what I'm referring to when I say "celebrity privilege." I'm not taking away from the hard work Dave has put into his career for so many years. He, and other celebrities, deserve due credit for the honest work they've put into their careers. But when celebrities want to be able to say or do anything with no repercussions simply because they seek to be worshipped and revered (maintaining their status) -- yes, that's "iconism" (aka "celebrity privilege"). I'll repeat: nobody walks on water. Nobody should be immune from critique or critical thought. So, yes, expecting special treatment just because you're a celebrity is a form of unwarranted privilege.

My two most recent editorialized examples highlighting this trend are cases involving both Ellen Pompeo and Jonah Hill:

https://medium.com/my-unpopular-opinion/is-jonah-hill-really-the-best-spokesperson-for-body-positivity-ee9eba4e7466

This extends to comedians who want blanket immunity for using comedy per se as a mechanism to cloak their own bigotry and/or indoctrination attempts. The whole point of comedy is supposed to be highlighting the humor (absurd or ironic) in life, while getting audiences to think while being entertained. I know you've already made it clear you don't subscribe to the starry-eyed groupthink of "comedian privilege" (i.e. comedians being able to unequivocally escape consequences regardless of what they say/do), so they should be the first ones who speak up when nefarious players are trying to mangle THEIR OWN words on their behalf (unless, of course, they are in silent agreement with what those nefarious players say/think).

I can't force you to read Alex's piece, but that makes it harder to discuss that any further. What I can do, perhaps, sometime down the road, is write a future piece to impel dialogue/discourse amongst my readers on the concept of "ranking oppressions" -- and you, when time permits, can review it and comment where you agree/disagree with my own P.O.V. -- and I can promise you I WON'T publish it in "An Injustice!" Granted, I realize you already have expressed how you reject that approach (ranking oppressions) on its face -- but, even when you and I both know better, it's important to be cognizant of how others are trying to weaponize those techniques, so readers can empower themselves to avoid falling for those artificial hierarchies.
