I use Wikipedia as a jumping-off point to do additional research exploring other sources, when I find a topic (via Wikipedia) about which I'm trying to learn more.

That being said: many of Wikipedia's editors are pretentious and overly-authoritarian in their "yard-defense" of the platform.
