I usually don't even bother to comment on their articles, in the first place. In most cases, I feel it's just a waste of my energy -- and a better way of pushing back against their ideology is simply to create my own narrative.

From the onset, I assume that provocateurs aren't seeking out actual constructive discussion. Instead, they just want to publicly shame anybody who dissents from their "wisdom." I noticed that, right away (when I'd first arrived on Medium), simply by observing and reading the autocratic behavior of Marley K. in response to readers who leave critical comments in her Comments Section. Although I shouldn't implicate her, singlehandedly -- she is just an avatar of inspiration for the hoards of performance artists on here who imitate that M.O.
