I'd always assumed that when comedians joke about White people (such as Chappelle does), or about men -- they aren't literally saying they're accusing ALL members from the group of being guilty of that behavior.

Rather, they're describing / alluding to a specific archetype of person who abuses that attribute of privilege (e.g., white privilege, male privilege, etc.) in order to retain an iron-clad grip on power.

Am I giving comedians too much credit?
