I'd counter that it doesn't matter whether or not they were "forced" to become police officers. The vast majority of police brutality is caused by White cops; that makes it systemic. Just because the five police officers who murdered Tyre Nichols were all Black, that doesn't absolve them from CHOOSING to adhere to a white supremacist system of broken policing. Members of marginalized groups don't get a free pass for contributing to systemic problems...not even when they themselves have been victimized by other types of systemic injustices within the contexts of their own lives.
