If you were born in 1981, then you're technically on the GenX/GenY cusp ("Xennials"). I'm a year younger than you, and I'm at the tail-end of that microgeneration ('78-'82-borns).

That being said: It's quite ridiculous for anyone to arbitrarily reject one generational cohort while embracing another just because of the stigmatization being fueled by ageist people who hold complete strangers' birthyears against them.
