If you're speculating that some/many writers on Medium are embracing sameness due to the added incentive of monetization, I could see that!

But I suspect that just as many (if not more) of them get bogged down in that sort of rut because they are so self-indoctrinated by their own binarism, and they've appointed themselves as moral arbiters to "educate" the rest of the world on what is true and decent (from their P.O.V.s).
