I’m a strong proponent of voting for Independent political candidates. But we currently have a system that rewards institutional sectarianism.
That leads us into a two-pronged obstacle: wresting Republican-held seats away from milquetoast cultists, while pushing for systemic electoral reforms that will ultimately move us beyond the two-party system in the long run.
But, obviously, you are right about the present-day hijacking by fringe narcissists of what used to be classical conservatism. Maybe if Democrats hadn’t spend the last few decades being so mealy-mouthed and legislatively-mediocre, the inmates would never have been able to take over the asylum in the first place?
