I'm glad this has never actually happened to me directly -- because if you were to say something as narcissistic and arrogant as that to me *AFTER* I was (hypothetically) the target of a crime motivated by my identity...I would have some choice words for you, Ms. Super C.

You are being intellectually dishonest, here. Trayvon Martin was most definitely the target of racism seeing how George Zimmerman targeted him BECAUSE OF his race. Period.

Now, you do raise some valid questions regarding a hypothetical black-on-white crime. For example, if the White person made a racist statement to the Black person (as you suggest), or if the two of them began engaging in violence due to racial antipathy between them (as you alternately suggest) -- then those are clearly instances where the White person has some culpability in the escalation of those exchanges.

If, on the other hand, as you suggest, the Black person "randomly" chose the White person as a target for violence because the Black person harbors antipathy toward White people in general...then it isn't actually so "random." BUT FOR the fact that the White person had paler skin, they wouldn't have been targeted by the Black person. Race was the deal-breaking factor. That's racism. There's no way around it.

Now, is it SYSTEMIC racism? I'd say no. As you've illustrated, systemic racism involves structural barriers such as harsher punishments and lack of medical treatment (in institutional medical settings) for Black, Indigenous, & People of Color. So, no, a black-on-white case of violence isn't SYSTEMIC RACISM. It is, however, SOCIAL RACISM, because the aggressor is using race per se as the de facto attribute by which they are justifying/rationalizing their discriminatory action. If it was a group of Black or Brown folks targeting a White person (or a group of White people), it would be CULTURAL RACISM since their transgression is based on racialized groupthink and the accompanying entitlement to violate another person's bodily sovereignty based on nothing other than that group identity.

"Prejudice" implies passive belief...not behavioral action. By taking the inhumane position you have, Ms. Super C., you are actively and knowingly fanning the flames of racism while participating in the exacerbation of racist narratives in this country. You are part of the problem,
