I'm just curious, because I hear this "Affiny" fallacy so often...

Have you ever encountered any White men who've proactively confirmed for you that, had you not shared with them the experiences and histories of Black, Indigenous, Latino(a), and Asian/PI/MENA folks in the United States -- that they otherwise wouldn't have believed the oppression was occurring?

I'm intensely intrigued and fascinated, if that's the case. How do you know they wouldn't have reconsidered their own prejudices or biases if the same information had been shared with them by a Person of Color, rather than by you?

Are you just assuming they gave you more credence, when saying it, because you sort of cosmetically look like them? Or have they shared some sort of open and candid admissions with you as to how they wouldn't have given it a lot of thought if it hadn't come out of your mouth?
