I'm very generous and liberal about following people on Medium.

However, I will unfollow someone the moment they write a piece (or clap for a piece) that, at its core, is antithetical to me and my most unyielding values. (In other words, it has to be poisonous sentiments that I find to be pretty egregious)

Note the distinction: I don't unfollow people solely because we disagree civilly on some points. If I did that, I'd have no one left to follow. There's a difference between writers who see the world in a different way than I do...versus those who are demonstrating how they're consciously willing to (mis)TREAT others in an adverse way that goes against my intellectual compass (and those who enable them, via claps).
