I'm well-aware of the bad things Joss Whedon has done.

I still don't see what any of that has to do with Monica Owusu-Breen. To my knowledge, she has zero connection with Joss.

That would be like saying they wouldn't invite back *any* of the original "Buffy" writers to help emulate the sequel's tone, solely because they happened to be staffed by Whedon. Or that they weren't going to let Sarah Michelle Gellar or Alyson Hannigan reappear as their characters because Whedon was the one who'd originally cast each of them.
