In my view, so-called "chivalry" (opening doors, pulling out chairs, buying dinner and flowers) should be a voluntary privilege that a man does because he is the host or out of his own volition -- not because it's considered an obligation or a societal expectation.

It's also entirely irrelevant to gay men, lesbian women, and nonbinary people, which makes it heteronormative.
