In my view, the failure of "It Gets Better" is that it's rather insincere for a bunch of privileged celebrities to tell LGBT youth, "Oh, just hang in there a little while longer; your life won't be so bad." Easy for them to say. The campaign would have been a lot more effective, from my P.O.V., if it had featured mainly LGBT+ public figures (not straight allies) sharing actual stories summarizing how they overcame anti-Queer obstacles in their own lives.
