In the case of the Hollywood strike, any change on the part of the AMPTP is going to come from the writers and actors jointly bringing the industry to a halt (temporarily) to force the studios back to the bargaining table.
I'm not sure what the parallel will look like in terms of the present-day political elite vs. the insurgents -- but I have a feeling we're about to find out. Will it be once a critical mass of offenders and cronies get indicted and/or humiliated to the point that voters feel compelled to reward new candidates who are pitching alternative messages? Was Jesse Ventura in 1998 far ahead of his time?
