It definitely does sound like the anti-masker, in this case, was premeditated in his desire to hold the bakery door open for the woman. Possibly to exert power over her? Possibly to engage in some performance art over how "chivalrous" he would appear? Or maybe a combination of both?
I still stick to my default behavior: holding the door open for women and OTHER men, alike; and only if they are a reasonable distance close behind me. And, regardless of how long that stream of traffic is, I keep holding the door open until the final person has gone through.
