It doesn't help that Medium isn't transparent about how it decides which writers to promote. We are assuming that everyone boosted by the algorithm has been individually hand-curated -- but is such an assumption unfounded? You're absolutely right about the self-fulfilling prophecy aspect of it.

I'm questioning the motives and sanity of the readers/subscribers who eat that shit up.
