It *isn't* discrimination against straight people.

In their minds, it's discrimination against SOCIALLY-CONSERVATIVE straight people who explicitly wish to enshrine heteronormativity as our collective societal ideal.

They believe that's the type of heterosexual mindset to which all straight people should aspire. So they're not above using Big Government tactics to impose such a paradigm upon all of society.
