It's been years since I saw that televised roundtable, so I might be confusing her with another scholar, but I believe she brought up the tendency of writers to only identify the racial identities of BIPOC characters in prose (Paraphrasing: "Why is it that the White character is never the one who is 'raced'? When I say 'White' or 'Black,' I'm not trying to be divisive...I'm using it as a descriptor.")
