I've found that this archetype falls into one of two basic categories:

1.) They feel they are "teaching empathy" by "turning the tables" or "giving oppressors a taste of their own medicine" -- they're genuinely oblivious to the inanity of their rhetoric and actions.

2.) They realize how inane these words/actions are, but they simply don't care. In fact, they don't care PROUDLY. They have channeled their exhaustion and pain into "Performative Rage." They've abandoned even the facade of trying to solve problems (as opposed to the former group), and have jumped straight into "mobster mode."

Then, of course, when any of us push back against such inanity, we are accused of "tone-policing" and/or "being blind to our privilege" and/or being "fragile." They gaslight us by projecting their own worst traits (whether they're self-aware of them or not) onto others. It's all part of a prewritten narrative, and I've learned how to be several steps ahead of them.
