I've written about this dynamic extensively over the course of many op-ed pieces. "Chivalry" never works when it's monodirectional...*unless* both parties have consented and are comfortable with it.

And, yes, if I'm friends with a straight woman who is making those unreasonable demands of her male lover and she complains to me about how he's "cheap" or "unchivalrous," I'll call her out on it!

Of course, she may end our friendship (or I will), but that's really no big loss.
