Jack, I only agree with you in terms of how the suffix of "-phobia" is often inaccurate, and often times the suffix of "-misia" would be a better descriptor.

Where you lose me is by insisting that it's acceptable to view transgender people, as a whole, as being somehow "mentally ill." Have you talked one-on-one with any transgender individuals and tried to UNDERSTAND what they've been through in their lives?
