John McWhorter theorizes that it was the "boring" environment of the pandemic, coupled with the tendency of a certain type of White person who centers their own guilt and shame whenever police brutality is televised -- had it not been for that combination, Robin DiAngelo probably wouldn't have skyrocketed to the top of the "best-seller" list. I'd also add to that: The graphic nature of George Floyd's murder itself -- just the visceral experience of SEEING it happen, as opposed to hearing about it secondhand.
