Lex, so many of the peer/classmate archetypes you've described here are very familiar to me, from my K-12 experience. I'm a 90s kid.

For me, it was even worse when it came from the teachers (even if it was subconscious on their part). I have an article coming out very soon about my middle school Family & Consumer Ed teacher, and how she was cluelessly complicit in this anti-Queer culture.

BTW, if you're saying you fall on the cusp straddling Gen Y & Gen Z -- a really succinct term for your microgeneration would be "Zillennial":
